Rainy skies over East Bernard couldn’t stop the Brahmas on their march to being 4-0. The Brahmas traveled to Edna to take on the Cowboys and came out with a 20-10 victory over the Cowboys. Cowboy stadium provided the setting of a clash between two slot t teams, that run the ball, and play the split on defense. Throughout the first half, neither side could gain much traction offensively and we saw the score 7-0 Cowboys at the break.
In the second half, EB’s defense began to control the line of scrimmage and put heavy pressure on the Cowboy attack. Stellar play on the defensive side of the ball from Mark Glover, David Zavala, Korbyn Rivera, Bryan Olvera, Blake Jedlicka, and Reid Morton kept the Brahmas in the game. The fourth quarter brought about a changing of the tides.
Darius Lemos sparked the Brahma victory with a 78-yard touchdown run, this play really changed the momentum for the Brahmas and got us going. Caleb Magness would fine Boone Lee for the two-point conversion bringing the score to 8-10 Cowboys. Our defense came up with a huge stop on fourth down when the Cowboy punter muffed the punt and the Brahma offense got a short field. Magness would find Lee once again to give the Brahmas the lead on a twenty-seven-yard touchdown pass 14-10. Once again, the stout Brahma defense would come up with a huge play!! Bryan Olvera would make a huge strip-sack on the Cowboy quarterback and Boone Lee returned the fumble 55-yards for another Brahma score. Braydon Lemos sealed the victory for EB intercepting the Cowboys final play of the evening.
Yesterday, our boys showed tremendous fight and character, trailing in the fourth quarter 10-0, they never gave up. Everyone should be extremely proud of these young men for how they played and finished the game, be sure to congratulate them today. The JV Brahmas are 4-0, next week we start district play at Memorial Stadium vs the Van Vleck Leopards.
