The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams competed in the Weimar CC Invitational this past Saturday. In the Varsity Boys race, East Bernard finished 3rd out of 15 teams. Sealy placed first, Rice placed 2nd, and East Bernard finished 3rd. Individually, East Bernard had 3 medalists. Bo Badger placed 3rd, Mason Crist 7th, and Kolby Townsend 18th. Barrett Whitley was 28th, Ethan Rejsek 41st, Jackson Barta 69th, and Cade Grovanovic 87th with 139 boys competing in the race. In the Varsity Girls race, East Bernard finished 2nd to Yoakum with St. Paul finishing third. There were 13 teams competing in the Girls race. Individually, East bernard had 5 medalists. Madison Muzik finished 3rd, Aracely finished 11th, Libby Hancock finished 13th, Samantha Rabius 14th, and Emma Alexander finished 17th. Kimball Swiger was 23rd, Caitlyn Fuechec was 27th, Sophie Morrow 33rd, Alyssa Schulte 37th, Alejandra was 45th, and Maria Avila 50th with 144 girls competing in the race.
In the JH Girls Race, Abby Hudgins finished 8th, Kellen Dorotik was 11th, Kyleigh Longoria was 18th, and Megan Gasch finished 19th to all earn medalist honors. Anna Witte was 21st, Kylee Bates finished 29th, Briseyda Castillo was 56th, and Kadence Hernandez was 57th with 112 girls competing in the race. In the team competition, St. Paul earned the team title and East Bernard finished as the runner up with Halletsville placing 3rd overall. In the Biys race, Colby Kurtz was the first EB runner to cross in 10th place to earn medalist honors. Chris Kopecky finished 26th, Zach Fuechec was 36th, Jackson Morrow 40th, and Zimm Jochec 45th. In the team competition, Flatonia earned the team championship with Brazos as the runner up and East bernard finishing 3rd out of 11 teams. Congratulations to all the runners! The Cross Country teams will be competing in their last regular season meet at Willow Waterhole on Saturday Sept. 29 with the Varsity Girls racing first at 8:00 am .
