Yesterday, the EB Freshman team traveled to La Grange to take on the Leopards. Everyone in attendance noticed immediately the discrepancy between the two teams. The Leopards fielded triple the amount of players the Brahmas had, but in true EB fashion the Brahmas would dominate the Leopards 20-0. EB took the opening drive down the field, however the drive would come to a halt when the Leopards intercepted a pass. The Brahma Defense flexed their muscles, and came up with a quick three and out. After a couple of possessions in which both teams exchanged punts, the EB offense would begin to roll. Weston Swoboda would get the Brahmas on the board first, with a fifty-five yard touchdown run. Going into the half the Brahmas would lead 6-0.
The second half the Leopards would get the ball first, and march it inside our fifteen yard line. However, our tremendous bend but don’t break defense would come up with a huge turnover. Mark Glover made a tremendous hit on the ball carrier, and Bryan Olvera came up with the fumble recovery. After a short first down run, Caleb Magness would hook up with Boone Lee on a long sixty yard pass. Blake Jedlicka would add both the touchdown and the two point try pushing the score 14-0. The Offense would get the ball back one more time in the fourth quarter and Swoboda would cap the Brahmas scoring with a sensational sixty-five yard touchdown run. Bryan Olvera would put the nail in the coffin for EB, intercepting a Leopard pass in the final minutes.
Offensively the Brahmas were led by a tremendous rushing attack from Weston Swoboda, Blake Jedlicka, and Caleb Magness. Our offensive line dominated a stacked line of scrimmage, inflicting their will on the Leopards. These young men had zero subs up front, Jonah Kubena, Nick Robles, Samuel Coker, David Zavala, and Mark Glover. Our swingmen and tailbacks did a tremendous job blocking all game. Defensively the Brahmas overwhelmed the Leopards with relentless effort and an infectious will to win. The Brahmas pushed their scoreless streak to eighteen straight quarters. Today our defense was led by tremendous play by Mark Glover, Bryan Olvera, Boone Lee, and Samuel Coker. Coker, Lee, Glover, and Kubena play defensive line and today they dominated the Leopards.
I am extremely proud of the progress these young men have made throughout the year. Every week we are out gunned with numbers, but these kids don’t let that adversity phase them. These young men continue to play as a family, they trust in each other and they continue to reap the rewards of hard work. If you see any of these boys today, please congratulate them on a game well played.
Last night the East Bernard JV Football team took on Ganado's JV at Memorial Stadium. The boys dominated the game from start to finish. The Brahmas ended up with a victory of 47-0. This improved their record to 7-0 on the year.
The team was once again lead by physical play in all three phases of the game. The defense led the charge with another shutout on the year. The defense was led by an interception and score from linebacker Davis Coldeway. Playing extremely tough in the middle were linebacker Brennan Peloquin, along with defensive lineman Carlos Montalbo, Raul Tavarez, Devin Bowen, Ethan Hlavinka, and Caydan Hall. The secondary also played well giving up very little yardage through the air. This secondary charge was led by Jose Cubias, Trey Steffens, and Brody Reinecke.
The offense started off hot with a deep pass from Quarterback, Dallas Novicke, to Tight End, Cole Polak. This led to a Novicke touchdown run two plays later and the Brahma offense never looked back. The offense scored every time they touched the football and all of this was from the tough, hard-nosed attack from their offensive lineman. These athletes were Bryce Somer, Cason Ivy, Riley Moseley, and Blake Walters, and Dylan Baird. Scoring for the Brahmas were Novicke, Riley Polak, Andrew Dirba, Nik Schatz, and two rushing touchdowns from Andrew Schmidt. One Schmidt touchdown would not have happened if it wasn't for the outstanding downfield blocking by Charles Boettcher.
The Brahmas really put on a great show last night for all those who came out to support. The Brahmas were clicking in every phase of the game due to their preparation throughout a cold and wet week. If you see any of these young men please be sure to congratulate them on a great game and week. The Brahmas will be back in action next week against Bloomington in Bloomington.
