Thank you for visiting my class page! This will be my third year at East Bernard High School.

I’m originally from Minnesota. My husband, three children, and I moved to Texas in 2021, and I’ve been a Texaholic ever since! I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Biblical Studies from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN, and a Master’s Degree in Family Science from Concordia University, St. Paul. Although my education may not scream “English teacher,” I assure you my experience in the professional world—and most recently in public relations—has prepared me wonderfully to teach your child(ren). I will share my backstory in class, and if you're not one of my students, you can ask them for the details.

I’m on a mission to make learning fun and engaging, so our classroom environment will include a variety of learning and assessment styles. I'm also very passionate about equipping students with a distinctive ability to think and write critically and creatively, so we'll be avoiding a lot of the tools that eliminate those parts of the writing process. Ultimately, we want students to be prepared for their English I EOC/STAAR, and I will do my best to ensure their success. Please never hesitate to reach out via email or telephone with any questions or concerns, but understand that I will not discuss anything with a parent or guardian until the student has first attempted to communicate with me. I want 9th graders to feel comfortable and confident in my classroom, and that will only happen when they’ve been given the independence they need to flourish throughout high school and beyond!
