Welcome!
My name is Lauren Heckmann, and I’m proud to be entering my 14th year of teaching in EBISD. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Sam Houston State University and later completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration at Lamar University.
After several years teaching at the junior high level, I was thrilled to transition into the journalism program. As a former EBHS yearbook staff member myself, this position feels like coming full circle. As the journalism adviser, this role allows me to give back to the school and community that shaped me. As an EBHS alumni, I have a deep appreciation for our small-town roots and the strong sense of pride that comes with being part of this district.
Our journalism team is made up of talented, hardworking students who consistently strive for excellence. Their dedication has led to numerous awards and recognitions over the years, and I’m excited to see what we’ll accomplish together this school year.

Tutorials:
My scheduled tutorial times are Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:00, however, if a student needs assistance or tutoring at another time, they need to talk to me and we can make other arrangements.
Supplies:
Yearbook/Newspaper: colored pens
Photography: 2- 16 GB (or larger) Camera Cards
Principles of Journalism (J1): ½-1" binder, dividers, 100 page composition book, colored pens, scissors, glue sticks, markers (there will be a place for you to keep your binder/comp book in my room-- You will use this binder for the entirety of your time spent in journalism.)
ALL SUPPLIES WILL BE NEEDED BY Monday, August 18th.
