EBHS Christmas Break Sports Round Up

 
 
 
The East Bernard Brahmarettes restarted district play for the 2018 year on Friday. The Brahmarettes came away with 3 big wins, the freshman beat LaGrange, and Varsity and JV beat Rice. The Varsity girls won by a final of 38-29 to improve their record to 13-6 on the year and 2-1 in district play. Leading the scoring for the Brahmarettes was Julia Janczak with 13, Jessica Rabius with 7, Emily Kurtz with 4, Mackensi Muzik with 4, Deedee Smith with 3, Cheslee Karasek with 3, Logan Goudeau with 2, and Blair Berry with 2. The Brahmarettes will continue district play on Tuesday, January 9th in La Marque.
 
 
 
 
The East Bernard Brahmarettes opened up the new year with two wins over Needville. The varsity Brahmarettes won by a final score of 38-33. Leading the charge was Cheslee Karasek with 12, Deedee Smith with 5, Julia Janczak with 5, Mackensi Muzik with 4, Blair Berry with 3, Emily Kurtz with 3, Logan Goudeau with 3, Jessica Rabius with 2, and Erin Dawson with 1. The varsity is now 12-6 on the season.
The JV Girls won by a final score of 36-4. Leading the scoring was Taylor Bottoms with 11, Kenna Novicke with 8, Paige Nixon with 4, Brooke Babin with 4, Madison Crist with 3, Dakota Domel with 2, Keaton Fortenberry with 2, and Lexi Marik with 2.
All 3 teams will be back in action on Friday, January 5th. Jv will start at 5:00 against Rice with Varsity to follow. The freshman girls will travel to LaGrange to play, game time is set for 5:00 also.
 
 
 
 
 
The J.V. Girls used a strong second half to pull away from Boling and win 53-8 on Thursday afternoon. Peyton McGuire had the hot hand for the Brahmarettes scoring 18 pts. Also scoring were Zoey Talas-8, Paige Nixon-7, McKenna Novicke-5, Lauren Rieger and Brooke Babin-4 each, Lexi Marik, Taylor Bottoms and Keatan Fortenberry all had 2 pts. Each. The team is 10-3 on the season.
 
 
Update 1
 
The J.V. girls defeated Rice on Friday night by a score of 37-5. This brings their record to 2-1 in District and 11-3 overall. Scoring for the Brahmarettes were: Taylor Bottoms and Zoey Talas-7 pts., Lexi Marik-6 pts., McKenna Novicke and Brooke Babin-4 pts., Lauren Rieger, Dakota Domel, Camryn Whitley and Alyssa Schulte-2 pts., and Paige Nixon-1 pt. Every player on the team scored!!
We will travel to LaMarque on Tuesday and play host to Brazos on Friday.
 
 
 
The Brahmarettes lost to Boling by a final score of 45-30. Leading the scoring for East Bernard was Julia Janczak with 7, Jessica Rabius with 6, Erin Dawson with 5, Mackensi Muzik with 5, Deedee Smith with 3, Emily Kurtz with 2, and Cheslee Karasek with 2. The Brahmarettes are now 11-6 on the season and will resume play on Tuesday, January 2 in Needville. JV will begin at 2:00 with Varsity to follow.
 
 Update 2
 
The Freshman squad for East Bernard Brahmarettes won a hard fought contest against La Grange on Friday night. The girls finished the game 25 - 21 with Payton McGuire & Courtney Dickson scoring 8 points, Madison Crist with 4, Rylan Warncke with 3, and Keaton Fortenberry with 2.
