East Bernard Junior High’s brand is One#1. This brand originates from the vision of: One Campus, One District, and One Goal = Student Success. In order for this to take place we must work collectively and collaboratively. This principle is a simple one, understanding that One area is not more important than another and that by working together as a whole, greater accomplishments will be reached. This One area can be a class, grade level, or problem. It is the understanding that we are all connected to each of our student’s success and we are responsible and accountable to one another. It is a selfless attitude with an optimistic outlook! I have learned that individual events are not the defining factor but rather how we respond to those events that define lives. This positive outlook helps finding solutions versus focusing on problems. The driving force behind all of our decisions will be the students. The question we will continually ask ourselves will be, “Is this in the best interest of our students?”
My core beliefs and what we expect of our students is to be respectful and act responsible, both in school and when they go home.
East Bernard Junior High School will provide our students with only the best quality of education and maintain the highest standards. My core beliefs and what we will expect of our students is to be respectful and act responsible. These beliefs create the vision of our campus and will afford our students and opportunity for success no matter the obstacles they may face. These principals will help create students with high integrity and character and will afford their success long after leaving the halls of EBISD.
We as a staff and campus will take ownership and accountability for these outcomes for all students. This works hand in hand with our District moto, "Making the Best Better!"
My Background:
I am a 1989 alumni of East Bernard High School, Southwest Texas State University with a B.S. in Exercise & Sports Science and Lamar University with a Master of Education in Administration. I have worked in education for 30 years; 17 years in the classroom and coaching athletics and 13 years in administration. My teaching background includes Texas History, World History, and US History at the Junior High and High School levels while coaching football, track and softball. Prior to joining EBISD, I have had the privilege of working in the following districts: Rice Consolidated ISD at Garwood JH and Rice High School; LCISD at George Junior High and B.F. Terry High School; Columbus ISD at Columbus High School and Sealy ISD at Selman Intermediate. This will be my sixth year as principal of East Bernard Junior High School and I understand how fortunate I am to work with such a wonderful group of students, staff, parents and administrators. The moto here is "Making the Best Better" and this District continues to strive for these principles.
My wife, Kara, and I have been married for 25 years and have two amazing children. Kyla is a 2018 graduate of EBHS and 2023 graduate of Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Cade is a 2022 graduate of EBHS and is currently a Sophomore at University of Texas at San Antonio where he is majoring in Business Administration.
My hobbies include spending time with my family, fishing, fishing, and a little more fishing, and I am blessed to be working at this District!
