Update from the High School office: Julien Hathaway Elementary

*updated 4/20/20

Dear Brahma Family,
On Friday, April 17, 2020, Governor Abbott declared that all Texas school campuses will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. While our goal was to have our students back on campus and in the classrooms this year, we hope this measure will allow our community to defeat this virus, and we can start next school year as planned.
As we rely on the distance learning platforms for the remainder of the year, we want to strongly encourage you to make sure your child is engaging with their teachers. Communication will solve most problems. All EBHS teachers are available and willing to assist in the remote learning process. We are here to provide instruction and answer any questions from you or your children.
EBHS students can expect to complete assignments from their core classes on Monday and Wednesday, with the many Elective classes completing assignments on Tuesday and Thursday. To ensure that we are working together, we are asking that assignments be completed by 5:00pm each day. This allows us to efficiently track student participation and provides learning feedback to shape future lessons. Our staff will work with you individually with any hardships you are facing. It is important that all of our students finish this school year strong.
Finally, we know that this adds even more uncertainty for our Class of 2020. The main focus at hand is that all seniors complete the coursework being provided, your participation is paramount to your success and graduation! We assure you that the entire EBISD administrative team is working to develop alternative arrangements for senior activities as allowed by social guidelines. In the coming days we will have more information and the updates will be posted on the EBHS homepage, so check back often.
To all EBHS parents, thank you, once again, for everything you have done to get your child online and learning. It is remarkable that we ended up with 94% of the EBHS students, working with their teachers, and turning in assignments in the first week of implementation. Keep up the great work!
In closing, know that we cherish our EBHS family and are here should you or your children need emotional support during this time of uncertainty, see Ms. Sulak's page for more details.
Stay Safe, and Stay Smart!

EBHS family, we will resume the "new normal" of school operations on Monday, April 6, 2020.  Please understand that participation in the online learning platforms is not optional, it is mandatory for all students grades 9-12 to ensure mastery of the content and to earn credit for the class. Students, you are expected to participate with the teachers and complete the lessons and assignments.  Parents, thank you in advance for making this happen!  Communication and defined expectations will be essential to student success in the coming weeks.
Overview of each day:
In general, Monday and Wednesday will be devoted to the core classes - English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Spanish.  Tuesday and Thursday will be reserved for elective courses, with Friday being a planning day for the teachers, and/or for individual educational communication.
Each lesson will be posted daily by 9:00am to the teacher's established social learning platform.  The student is expected to complete the lesson by 5:00pm each day.  Every lesson will end with a daily grade.  Daily grades may include, but are not limited to a 5-10 question quiz, an exit ticket, worksheet, or any other measure of content.  Participation and completion of the daily lessons will generate major grades, much like the compilation of a binder/notebook would earn a major grade in our old system.  Participation and mastery of the daily lessons is essential to student success.
Grades will be entered into Gradebook, which can still be accessed through Parent Portal.
We know this has been difficult for our school community, especially on our senior class and their families. To each of you, know that you will not only survive this, but thrive in life because of it.  You are resilient and have always found success working together to overcome the obstacles, challenges and barriers put before you.  You are East Bernard!
Thank you to everyone for your patience, support and kindness toward one another during this difficult time.
Stay safe and stay smart!

Welcome to East Bernard High School

Our students exemplify the best of our community as they enter our classrooms and arenas of competition each day. Teachers at EBHS create lessons that engage and empower students in the learning process. Active learning engulfs our campus each and every day to inspire students to inquire beyond the normal scope of the material. Furthermore, we strive daily to have a positive, progressive, and safe culture at EBHS.

Our extra-curricular activities, clubs, organizations, and service groups have continued the rich tradition of success established in prior years. It is through our fine arts, sports, spirit groups, and other student organizations that our students have an opportunity to represent our school and community and plant the seed for excellence. Through these experiences, our students develop and demonstrate skills that allow them to be leaders of the future.

At EBHS we understand that excellence in schools require a partnership with our community. We encourage parent volunteers and quality relationships with the businesses of the greater East Bernard area. We encourage school-community relations including an emphasis on clear communications with parents and all stakeholders. We understand that parents’ most prize possession is their children and the communication process between teachers, administrators, and parents is paramount to student success.

We are excited about the tradition of excellence our campus upholds and we will continue to move generations forward committed to

Making the Best, Better!
