Ethan Stade Russell Memorial Scholarship - Posted July 31, 2023
 
This $1500 scholarship is awarded in honor of the memory and contribution of Ethan Stade Russell, a 2013 graduate of East Bernard High School.  This scholarship application is open to all EBHS graduating seniors.  It is also open to graduating seniors from other schools who attend First United Methodist Church of East Bernard.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship - Posted July 31, 2023
 
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 35th class in 2023, the Foundation has provided over 6,750 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $81 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The 2024 application will be available August 1-October 2, 2023, for students who will graduate during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Friends of the River Scholarship Application - Posted September 26, 2023
 
Attached is the 2023-2024 application for the San Bernard River Watershed Scholarship for graduating high school seniors whose career goals would result in a positive impact on the environment.   The application is attached as a pdf and also as a Word document should a student prefer to complete the application in that format.
 
Any senior graduating from one of the 14 high schools in the watershed of the San Bernard River is eligible to apply for the $2000 scholarship and we again will be awarding six scholarships.  The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and support those graduating seniors whose future plans will result in a positive impact on the environment.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation - Posted November 1, 2023
 
The Hagan Scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters, workshops to learn important life skills not typically covered in the college curriculum, funds to purchase college essentials, an HSF Schwab Brokerage Account to manage, funds to study and travel abroad, and the opportunity to extend the Hagan Scholarship to obtain a graduate or profession degree.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
2. Must attend a traditional public high school located in the U.S. that is governed by a school district.
3. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average.
4. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation.
5. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college.
6. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until commencement of the 2024 fall semester in college. Work can be performed at recipient discretion. Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation. Most recipients work during the summer months. However, all paid employment counts, including part-time employment during this time period.
7. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $85,000. “Household Income” is defined as the total income received by all members of a household living under the same roof.
8. Applicants selected as Finalists in early 2024 must provide a copy of their FAFSA SAR.
9. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.
10. Must not have a felony conviction.

Commit for Life Scholarship-Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center - Posted November 1, 2023
 
To Qualify:
  • Your School must host a minimum of 2 blood drives this academic school year
  • The student must be enrolled in an institution of higher education or trade school in the Summer/Fall following the award of the scholarship.
  • To be eligible for the $5,000 and $10,000 level scholarships, in addition to the essay or video submission, applicants must be an active member of their blood drive team and include a letter of recommendation from their blood drive sponsor regarding their advocacy for blood donations at their school.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a multi-faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of students who aspire to attend college but to guide them through the process of higher education.
 

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a graduating, minority high school senior
- Be a United States citizen
- Present evidence of financial need
- Demonstrate a record of academic excellence
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service

The SPE-GCS has been supporting education for more than 50 years, providing college scholarships for students interested in math, science, and engineering degrees.  The key objective of our scholarship program is to increase interest in the energy industry among graduation high school seniors and help retain college students currently enrolled in science and engineering-related academic disciplines. 
 
To apply for the Gulf Coast Section Annual Scholarship, you must:

2023-2024 Funding the Future - Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union Scholarship (BVSCU) - Posted November 27, 2023
 
Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union provides five (5) $2,000 scholarships to deserving high school graduates who are members of the credit union.
 
Applicants must:
• Be a current member of BVSCU in good standing or join BVSCU by March 22, 2024.*
• Be a high school senior and on schedule to graduate from an accredited school.
• Submit all required documents with application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo - Posted:  December 19, 2023
 

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ scholarship application is completed entirely online. Applicants will upload supplemental documents when completing the online application. Then, a school official or counselor will complete a second portion of the application online.  In order to qualify for a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship, all minimum requirements must be met.

 

Scholarship Requirements:

Applicants must meet  ALL of the following requirements in order to be eligible for a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship.

  • Be a U.S. citizen and Texas resident.
  • Graduating high school senior from eligible school
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid available December 2023.
  • Plan to attend an accredited, not-for-profit university in the State of Texas.
  • Have met minimum score requirement for either SAT or ACT.
 

With the soft launch of the FASFA, as well as expected delays in students receiving their finalized reports, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has changed its requirements for the 2024 application only. 

  • Instead of a finalized report, students must provide a copy of their submission confirmation showing their estimated Student Aid Index (SAI). Students may upload a copy of their confirmation email showing their estimated SAI.
  • OR a downloaded PDF of their results from the Federal Student Aid Estimator (studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/) if they are unable to complete the FAFSA at this time. Applicants may upload a PDF report from the estimator tool. Instructions on how to use the estimator tool are included in the application and attached in the link below:

Joe and Albina Zalman Memorial Scholarship - Posted January 9, 2024
 
Selection Criteria:
 
1. Applicants will be chosen that are not already eligible to receive other large awards such as athletic scholarships, National Merit Awards, etc. It is not that these students are not deserving but that the award is intended to help those students that normally would not receive other large grants.
2. It is not necessary that the applicant possess the highest grades in the class. An applicant can possess average grades as long as the applicant possesses a strong desire to continue his education. Particular attention should also be given to students that had to work much of the time during their high school years.
3. Preference will be given to El Campo High graduates, although graduates of any high school in Wharton County are eligible.
4. Preference will be given to students with backgrounds related to agriculture (such as children of farming families, children of persons in occupations related to agriculture or agribusiness, and students who have demonstrated interest in agriculture by participation in Future Farmers of America or similar organizations).
5. Priority shall be given to applicants based on financial need.
6. Each scholarship recipient must be a citizen of the United States.
7. Each scholarship recipient shall have been a resident of Wharton County, Texas, for at least five years.

REQUIREMENTS:

(1)Must be a graduating Senior of East Bernard High School
(2)Must have participated in the athletic program at least three (3) years. Athlete, managers, and trainers must attend the athletic banquet.

Eligibility:
  • Daughter/Sister or Son/Brother of a Texas Farm Bureau member.  The membership and applicant's residence must be within Wharton County.
  • The candidate must enroll in a college, university, or technical school in a curriculum leading to a degree of certification and/or license in an approved field of study.  
  • The candidate must submit the application form + an official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, a certified statement of ranking in the graduating class (may be a part of the official transcript), an essay and two recommendation letters: 1 teacher and 1 business/employer.

Wharton County Youth Fair & Exposition Scholarship - Posted January 26, 2024
 
Qualifications and Application Instructions:
1. Candidates must live in or attend a Wharton County high school.
2. Candidates must be seniors.
3. Home School students will be considered as High School Seniors as long as State requirements are met.
4. Field of study is not limited; however, the candidate must have plans of attending an accredited college, technical school or vocational school with a program leading to certification in an approved field of study.
5. Application must be properly submitted on official forms provided by the school counselor or obtained from the WCYF website. All applications must be turned into the school’s counselor office by the deadline date of WEDNESDAY, March 6, 2024. THERE SHOULD BE NO EXTRA PAGES ATTACHED TO THIS APPLICATION. Statements must fit in the space provided on the application. Any attachments to the application will be removed and will not be considered as part of the application. All blanks must be completed.
6. Applications must include official transcripts and copies of SAT and ACT scores. If those are not available a PSAT or TSIA score should be included. Class ranking is important information and must be certified by school officials. The application covers general information about school, family, college plans, community service, and other Wharton County experiences. Please fill out the information as accurately as possible and attach the
required material listed below to the completed application and copies.
7. You will be notified and assigned a time for an interview. If you have a conflict with the assigned time, you may change times with someone in your school. If this is not possible, please contact the fair office. It is your responsibility to be at the interview. 
 
The application must be submitted with an original and three copies to your high school counselor.

2) One-page essay as to why you deserve a scholarship

Wharton County Junior College Foundation Scholarship - Posted February 6, 2024
 
Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for a WCJC Foundation scholarship:

1. Students must be graduating in 2024 from one of the following high schools:
a. Boling High School
b. East Bernard High School
c. El Campo High School
d. Louise High School
e. Needville High School
f. Matagorda County High Schools
g. Fort Bend County High Schools
1. Students should attend their high school transcript, and if available, students attach a copy of their diploma.
2. Applicants must be in need of financial assistance to attend college and must provide a descriptive essay (1 to 2 pages) in their application describing their economic situation, other challenges and their desire to attend college. Students who demonstrate in their essay their limited resources and need for financial support as well as how a scholarship to WCJC will help them, will be given priority in the selection process.
3. Students must submit a letter of recommendation from a community member, teacher, school employee, or adult friend, who can comment on their character and commitment to attend college if awarded this scholarship.

Wharton County Junior College Endowment Scholarship - Posted February 12, 2024
 
 
Requirements for the Wharton County Junior College Endowment Scholarship:
  • Must have a current admissions application on file at WCJC.  You can complete your application at goapplytexas.org.
  • Completely answer all questions on the application.  Incomplete scholarship applications will be given secondary consideration.
  • Submit all documents required. If you have difficulty attaching your transcript(s), please email a copy to [email protected]. Include your name, date of birth, and the note, "Add to scholarship application file" to the email. You may also mail copies of your transcript(s) to WCJC Financial Aid, 911 Boling Hwy; Wharton, TX, 77488.
  • Must be a student attending, or plans on attending, any WCJC campus:  Wharton, Sugar Land, Richmond, Bay City, or Distance Education.  Students in dual credit programs for 2024-2025 are not eligible for an award.
  • Preference will be given to students who have submitted a 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to WCJC.
 
DEADLINE:  April 1, 2024 at midnight   This scholarship is only submitted electronically.

The Plaza Theatre Scholarship given in Memory of Mrs. Jeanene D. Merka - Posted February 14, 2024

To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  • Attend an accredited technical college or university located in the state of Texas.
  • Have an intended major in the field of theatre, performing arts, or related field.
  • Enroll as a full-time student in the fall semester immediately following scholarship selection

3. Explain how FFA and/or 4-H has impacted your life
4. Briefly explain why you should be awarded this scholarship (please include future educational and career plans)

East Bernard Band Booster Scholarship - Posted March 20, 2024
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
1. Must be a graduating senior of EAST BERNARD High School
2. Must have participated in the Band Program at least three (3) full academic (Fall and Spring Semester) years. Band members must participate in all Fall performances (Marching UIL, Christmas concert, etc.) and Spring performances (Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation, Solo and ensemble, etc.) in order to fulfill music literacy standards by UIL. If students are not able to perform for the required performances due to ineligibility, participation in
other school functions, medical/family emergencies, or other situations, an individual performance of prepared music as selected by the HS Band.  Director is to be submitted with the required application
3. Must have applied to and/or have plans to attend a college or trade school
4. Parent/s must be a Band Booster member and dues must be current for each year the student has participated.

This Vocational/Technical Career Opportunity Scholarship assists students enrolled full time in a program based vocational/technical training program at WCJC, TSTC, San Jacinto College (automotive), or Victoria College (No Commercial Schools) who have been residents of Wharton County, Texas, for at least two years and have acquired their high school diploma or GED from a Wharton County school system.
